IMP’s are two single-skin metal panels with a special foam insulation adhered between them. This allows them to achieve a greater thermal efficiency or R-value. (R value describes the rate by which heat energy is transferred through materials. A higher R value is considered better).

The panels are molded in a variety of styles and sizes, depending on their application. Steel or aluminum panel facings create vapor, air and moisture barriers and provide long-term stability. The metal skins offer long-term durability and come in a variety of colors.

BENEFITS OF IMPS

IMP’s offer other advantages, too. One of these is that they can be erected very quickly. On an architectural project and with the correct equipment, more than 1,000 sq. ft. can be erected in an eight-hour shift by a four-man crew. On an industrial application, the same metrics apply to 5,000 sq. ft.

Another advantage is that it is a pre-painted metal panel with factory applied, corrosion resistant, high performance polymeric coatings that extend its life cycles. Interior coatings are easy to clean and have high light reflectivity.

Performance criteria

IMP’s are manufactured to meet the performance and testing requirements of the building codes and insurance agency listings. They are tested for fire resistance, structural thermal transmittance/resistance, foam core properties, water leakage and air pressure differential. These insulated panels have a foam core with R-values ranging from 7 to 48, as thickness goes from 1”-6” for wall systems and R–values ranging from 10 to 48 for roof systems, as thickness goes from 1.5”-6”. The use of lighter coating colors allows for a lower surface temperature, thus permitting an additional increase in R–value.
